Frequently Asked Questions
A kompartment is an area of your life that requires some sort of organisation and information sharing. We know that’s a very general explanation but you really can use kompartments to organise anything. Think of each kompartment as kind of like a file within a filing cabinet. And inside that file you have a diary, a list of things to do, some paperwork and some photos. A collection of information to help you keep track and share information.
How do I access Kompartment?
The Kompartment app can be accessed on iPhone and iPad, on Android devices, and on the web version at any time here. For all the download details visit our Home page.
Do you have an introductory video I can watch?
We sure do! Take a look here.
I need a few ideas for what I can do with Kompartment. Where can I get these?
We have a live example account that you can access to look through some example kompartments we’ve set up if you need a few ideas for how this will work for you. This account can be accessed here. These are just some ideas though, feel free to use kompartments in whatever way suits you.
I've verified my account but the restrictions don't seem to have been lifted. What do I need to do?
Once you've verified your account you'll need to log out and then log back in. This will ensure the restrictions on adding images and files will be lifted.
How do I share a Kompartment with someone else?
When you first set up a kompartment you can invite people to share it with. If you want to add people later, within your kompartment, click the Edit icon in the top right hand corner. The Edit Kompartment screen is now displayed. Scroll down to the ‘Shared with’ section and click Add to add a new user to this particular kompartment. The Invite screen will now be shown. Here you can either enter an email address, select someone you already share another kompartment with or click on the ‘Phone Contacts’ tab at the top to find someone in your phone contacts. (Head to our Support page for access to video tutorials with further details.)
Do I have to pay to use Kompartment?
Nope! You can download and use the app for free, adding as many kompartments as you like. Once you reach our maximum data level for our base product (that is, once you upload a certain volume of files and images), you will be able to upgrade to our premium product that gives you further storage. Our premium product is also going to have a heap of cool premium features added to it over the coming couple of months as well so stay tuned for these! Details of each product can be found on our Pricing page.
How do I add a new Kompartment?
You can add as many new kompartments as you like. This can be done by simply clicking the + symbol in the top right hand corner of the Home screen.
How does the Calendar integration work with my device?
Any events you enter into Kompartment will synchronise with the calendar on any mobile devices on which you access your account. There are multiple ways that events are synchronised:
Basically, when you open Kompartment on your mobile device, it will compare your kompartment calendar to your mobile device calendar and add in any new events that are not already in your device calendar.
- If you are on your mobile device and you add an event into a kompartment, it will load straight into your device’s native calendar.
- If you add an event within the web version of Kompartment, next time you open the app on your mobile device it will add the event into your device’s native calendar.
- If somebody else adds an event into a kompartment you share, next time you open the app on your mobile device it will add the event into your device’s native calendar.
- If you log into your account on a new mobile device, it will synchronise all your calendar events into the device’s calendar.
Note that the synchronising process can take a minute or so so if you close out of the app before it is finished all event updates may not occur.
I don’t want a kompartment calendar to synchronise with my device calendar. Can I turn this off?
You sure can. Go into your kompartment and then click the edit icon in the top right hand corner. Scroll down to ‘Sync with device calendar’ and turn this off. Note that this will not remove any events that have already synced with your calendar, it just won’t sync any events you add going forward.
How do I mark my To Do items as complete?
Simply swipe them to the left and click the double tick icon!
How do I edit and delete notes and files?
Notes can be edited and deleted by swiping them to the left and then selecting either the edit or delete icon.
Similarly files can be deleted or downloaded by swiping them to the left and selecting the delete or download icon.
How can I add files into a kompartment?
If you are on an iOS device, files can be added from your gallery, and also from other file storage apps you have installed, like Dropbox. On Android devices you can access the file system and load anything from this.
You can also log into Kompartment via your web browser on your laptop, notebook or desktop and add any files you like this way.
When I try to load Kompartment, I see a white screen. What has gone wrong?
The app may take a little while to load if you’re opening it for the first time or haven’t used it for a while. However if it is taking more than 10 seconds then check your internet connection as Kompartment does need a connection to work.
How can I get copies of letters/bills I receive into Kompartment?
One great way to use Kompartment is to keep track of all the paperwork you receive. Simply take a photo of the paper document and add it into the relevant kompartment. Our premium service, to be launched over the next couple of months, will also include the ability to scan documents in as PDF so keep an eye out for this.
How can I access my Kompartment calendar in other calendaring applications (eg Outlook, mac Calendar)
This depends on what device you are using for Kompartment.
If you are using Kompartment on an iOS device, your Kompartment events are being created in a corresponding Kompartment calendar within your iCloud account. If you open up the Calendar app on your iOS device, and select ‘Calendars’ at the bottom middle of your screen you’ll see a list of all the Calendars you are accessing. Scroll down to iCloud and within this list you will see a Kompartment calendar. This will be automatically accessible if you have iCloud set up on your Mac and if you want to access it via other calendar clients then you will need to check the instructions for your particular client.
If you are using Kompartment on an Android device, your Kompartment events are being created directly against the account that you have set up as your default account for the device. So any calendar client that you access this account in will automatically also be updated with your Kompartment events.
We know this all sounds pretty confusing though and it really is dependent on your own individual setup so feel free to contact us via the details on our Support page and we'll do our best to help you!
What happens if I change a Kompartment event in my native calendar?
If you edit an event directly in your native calendar it will not be updated in Kompartment and in your other shared user’s native calendars. Kompartment is the master of the event so any changes should be made via the app!
I want to cancel my account. What do I need to do?
We'll be really sorry to see you go but if you want to cancel your account contact our support team via the details on our Support page and we'll action that for you.
